Recording: Launch of UK nations WAAW 2024 plans and toolkit(s) and celebration of 10-years of the Antibiotic Guardian campaign

The WAAW Webinar and 10-year Antibiotic Guardian Event was held from 1:00-4:15pm on Wednesday 25 September 2024. 

The webinar launched this year’s World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) plans and toolkit(s) across the four UK nations and celebrated 10-years of the Antibiotic Guardian campaign which was launched in 2014 and has since received more than 200,000 pledges from 137 countries worldwide. The event also provided the opportunity to find out about the 2024-29 UK National Action Plan on AMR that was launched in May 2024. 

The webinar was chaired by Prof Diane Ashiru-Oredope (Lead Pharmacist for HCAI and AMR at UKHSA and Chair of the English Surveillance Programme for Antimicrobial Utilisation and Resistance (ESPAUR)). Speakers included colleagues from UKHSA, NHS England, Scottish Government, Public Health Wales, Public Health Agency Northern Ireland, the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Microbiology Society, GP practices, NHS trusts, Integrated Care Boards and the Veterinary Medicines Directorate. 

The webinar will consist of three parts:

Part 1: An overview of the 2024-29 National Action Plan (NAP) for AMR and case studies of how the NAP is being actioned locally/regionally and by professional bodies
